Getting started

What is ReadyRoots?

ReadyRoots is a whole child, school readiness world for Australian kids aged 3 to 8. Every child starts with a free Discovery Check that shows where they're at, then we build a personalised pathway of playful activities, worksheets and adventures led by characters your child will love, about 15 minutes a day.

What is the Discovery Check?

It's a short, playful check: a few quick parent observations plus simple activities for your child, across literacy, numeracy, STEM, creativity, confidence and discovery. It's support, not a test or a diagnosis, and it simply tells you what to focus on next and recommends where to begin.

How do I get started?

Create a free account and take the Discovery Check. It only takes a few minutes and you don't need to enter any payment details to start. From there you'll get a recommended starting point and a handful of activities to try.

What ages is it designed for?

Ages 3 to 8, spanning Before School, Prep, Year 1 and Year 2. Activities grow in difficulty as your child does, so the same world keeps pace with them year to year.

Do I need to be a teacher to use it?

Not at all. Everything is designed so any parent can help, with clear guidance, characters your child will love, and a plan that always tells you what's next. No teaching degree, no guesswork.

Learning & curriculum

What are the "roots"?

The roots are learning areas, each led by a character: Kiki (Literacy), Dex (Numeracy), Billy (STEM), Sunny (Creativity), Roo (Confidence) and Wally (Discovery), with a seventh on the way. Each root grows a different part of your child's garden, so you can see balanced, whole child progress at a glance.

Is ReadyRoots aligned to the curriculum?

Yes. Activities are mapped to the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Literacy follows a structured synthetic phonics sequence (SATPIN), and numeracy follows a clear number sense progression, so practice builds in the right order.

How much time does it take each day?

About 15 minutes a day. Small, consistent moments beat long sessions. That's what builds confidence and momentum over time.

How does progress work?

As your child completes activities they earn seeds and water that grow their garden and level up their Treehouse, through six stages: Seed, Sprout, Root, Sapling, Tree and Mighty Tree. Everything is framed positively (for example, "Billy needs a hand finishing the bridge," never "your child is behind").

Worksheets & the app

What's included?

A growing library of 4,000+ printable activities plus the digital learning world: the Discovery Check, personalised pathways, your child's garden and Treehouse, and a parent dashboard that shows progress across all the roots.

Do worksheets come in colour or black and white?

Both. Every worksheet comes in a full colour version and a black and white version, so you can choose vibrant colour or a lighter, low ink print. Same activity, your choice.

What are the QR codes on the worksheets?

Each printable has two QR codes. One unlocks a matching game or character video. The other logs the finished sheet, so completing it on paper grows your child's garden and shapes what's recommended next. Paper and app work together as one loop.

Can we use ReadyRoots offline?

Yes. Print the worksheets and complete them anywhere, no screen needed. Scan them afterwards to log the progress back into your child's profile.

Are the worksheets printed and posted, or digital?

Worksheets are digital downloads you print at home, so you can start straight away and reprint as often as you like.

Accounts & profiles

How do I create an account?

On the login page, choose "Forgot password" and we'll email you a secure reset link.

Can I add more than one child?

Yes. The Family plan supports up to 4 child profiles, each with their own garden, Treehouse and personalised pathway, plus a combined family view for you.

Is my child's information safe?

We only collect what's needed to personalise your child's learning, we never sell personal data, and children's information is kept private. You're always in control of your family's account.
